Audrey grew up in England, later moving to Canada and, after spending some time on the east coast, settling in BC.
When her three sons were teenagers, Audrey enrolled in full-time studies at Simon Fraser University and UBC, receiving Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Social Work and, later, a Master's degree in Gerontology.
Audrey lived in Vancouver for many years, working in the Continuing Care Program at the Vancouver Health Department as a case manager, social work consultant, and program manager. She enjoyed working with seniors especially when focusing on the needs of family caregivers.
In 1996 she decided to move from the hectic city to the more peaceful rural setting of the Cowichan Valley. She lives quietly with her cocker spaniel, Toby, enjoying nature, her flower garden, music and books. Once an enthusiastic sailor, she loves to be close to the ocean.
Audrey feels very fortunate to have crossed paths with Ranjana and become involved with the Society. She says that her work with caregivers makes her feel part of something very special. "I really enjoy working with caregiving families. It seems as though all my previous training and experience, as well as my personal values and spirituality, are condensed into this particular time and place. It feels very comfortable and rewarding". |
